I am interested in the collection of symbols and stories from people who live in the area as representation of ownership and identity
- From artist statement by Denis Beaubois, principal artist Queen Street Riches and Textures 2017
This year’s Queen Street Riches & Textures project is A Temporal Skin St Marys.
It is directed and produced by artist Denis Beaubois who presents the community stories in digital video format through a series of video projections. The project has engaged local residents in recounting stories that evoke their own childhood and growing up in St Marys in the duration cottages that were originally built to house workers from the munitions factory in the area. Local residents of different cultural backgrounds were also invited to share their stories. To read more and download the brochure, please click here.
Denis will present video works and engage us in conversation about the process of working on the project with local residents.
